Happy New Year. I have recently completed a number of new recordings, some already posted on this site and others which will be posted in the coming weeks. There are recordings of my new orchestral works: On the Air, commissioned for the 100th anniversary of Northwest Public Radio, and Celebration Overture, commissioned for the 10th anniversary of McCall, Idaho, SummerFest. There are new recordings by the Washington State University Jazz Big Band including "Prairie Fire," commissioned by the University of Wyoming, "Sioux Center Shuffle," commissioned by the Sioux Center High School Jazz Band in Iowa and a recording of "Gotta Have Soul," written especially for the WSU Jazz Big Band. Thanks to all who supported my new holiday tune, "It's Santa!," commissioned by BYU, Idaho, recorded by my YAZZ Band in two versions: with vocalist Horace-Alexander Young and with the JECCA Vocal Jazz Ensemble directed by Kathleen Hollingsworth. "It's Santa!" rose to #1 on the Roots Music Report Top 50 Christmas: Jazz Song Chart and was featured on a number of streaming playlists.
I have a number of guest appearances coming up including conducting the Colorado All State Jazz Band in January and conducting the BYU Idaho Jazz Festival Honor Band in February.
