In December of 2018, I appeared as a guest saxophonist and composer in a program of all-Yasinitsky compositions with the Long Beach City College Jazz Band at Roscoe’s, a top Southern California jazz club. The LBCC Jazz Band was directed by WSU alumnus Patrick Sheng (also my nephew), Director of Jazz Studies at LBCC. Additionally, I presented a masterclass for LBCC students on jazz composition and arranging.
In October, I toured Italy to promote my CD release Mediterranean Connection, recorded with Teo Ciavarella, one of Europe’s top jazz pianists. I performed throughout Italy with Ciavarella and Pacific Coast Records recording artist Marco Bittelli at the Bravo Caffeè in Bologna, the top jazz club in that city, the Sax Pub in Lugo, il Primo Festival Jazz Città di San Nicandro Garganico, and Club Nautico in the seaside town of Rimini. In October of 2018, I was a guest saxophonist composer and arranger at the University of New Hampshire.
